Terry Bartlett, (the ugly one on the right) AKA Pears (what else??) shown here at Victor Harbour, SA in ‘65. Terry was on rookies’ course at Edinburgh back then and it is believed headed off to Wagga afterwards. Does any-one have any info on Pears..

Gerry "the Flange" Lange.

We mentioned last issue that our recollection of Gerry Lange was sitting under the wing of a Caribou in Moresby in 1968, greasing wheel bearings. Allan George wrote in to say his recollection of  Flange was also in Moresby, also under the wing of a Caribou and also greasing wheel bearings. We reckon it was because R² who was the boss of Det A at the time, wanted to make sure that the queer traders did something…….

Roy Sharpe wrote:- It struck me that literally many thousands of men and women have passed through Radio School over the years. Apprentices, Adult Trainees, Groundies, Airies, Telstechs, Sigsops, Telegs, Trinops, and personally I enjoyed the company of those people immensely. The RAAF were some of the best years of my life and I'd love to catch up and renew some of those friendships... Just trying to think of some ways to promote growth in the Radschool Association? How about each current member does a little research and provide you with two names, and contact numbers to follow up and invite to join the association.

Phil Baldock, who is a Flt Lt over at Edinburgh, saw Bill Bastion’s request in our last edition where Bill was looking for Ian Schuetze. Luckily, Phil knew an Ian Schuetze so he rang him to check if he was the right one, and sure enough, it was the right Ian who was wrapped to know someone from his happy past was looking for him. We’ve passed on Ian’s details to Bill who has since been in touch. Phil also told us he had some pictures from the past that he will try and scan into something respectable and get to us, and he’s hoping to get to our next reunion to “catch up with the real people and characters of this world that I have had the pleasure to be associated with and may not have met except for the old school tie, (pun intended)”.

We gave Allan George a shock in our last issue. He always though the lady below (circled) was his wife Jane, but when he read our previous issue he found that the person he has spent a large portion of his life with was really Kay Fletcher…….Sorry Jane, our mistake.
